Sanctuary dogs are those that came into rescue with us and for one reason or another are not easily adoptable. They are the ones that will stay with us long term or permanently, until their natural time comes to go to Rainbow Bridge. We DO NOT euthanize dogs to make room.
Sanctuary dogs need special sponsors, or Pack Pals, to help with their individual expenses each month. The average cost of keeping a Pekingese in this area with routine veterinary care including routine veterinary exams each year, heartworm preventative medication, flea and tick meds, annual vaccinations, dentals, regular dog food, treats, toys and, bedding is about $440.00 a year. This then averages $36.50 a month.
Most Sanctuary Dogs have medical issues that require additional medication, special diets, and, or treatment regimes. Each dog in the Sanctuary Dogs program will have their individual monthly expenses noted. Anyone wanting to sponsor a particular dog that has any questions about that dog's care requirements will be provided with an appropriate explanation.
We also appreciate any one time or occasional donations toward a specific Sanctuary Dog or the general operating fund, allowing us to apply your donation where it is most needed at that time.
This is Curlie, now a Sanctuary Dog due to heart disease, and problems with his temperament - he likes to bite children. Crulie's previous owners did not give him Heartworm preventative and he came to us with heartworms. After treatment, he now has permanemt heart damage. Otherwise, is a delightful boy that enjoys lap time and free time in the yard. His heart medication and check ups average $56.00 a month. This added to the average cost of keeping a Peke in this area of $36.50 amounts to $92.50 a month.
