WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Houston Pekingese Rescue is a not-for-profit organization. All donations go directly to the care and support of the dogs in our care. We have no paid staff members. We are all volunteers. Although there are adoption donations associated with the adoption of our dogs, they rarely cover the actual expenses associated with taking care of the average, healthy dog.
Occasionally, we do receive well taken care of dogs whose owners for one reason or another can no longer provide for their loved pets. However, sadly, most dogs that come to us usually have needs beyond the "normal, healthy, loved dog". Most of the dogs that come to us are from shelters either as strays or owner surrenders. Pekingese dogs frequently have eye problems, either dry eye and the associated ulcers when not properly treated, and/or eye injuries. They are also prone to skin problems if not properly taken care of and regularly groomed. Most of these sweet dogs come here with flea infestations, skin sores, matted or missing hair coats, and many have eye injuries or other medical needs.
We depend on private donations to help provide quality care for the dogs entrusted to our care. We do not receive funds from any government agency. It is through private donations that we are able to provide a loving environment, quality care, and often life saving medical care to the dogs in residence with Houston Pekingese Rescue. All donations are gratefully accepted, and appreciated by us as well as the dogs needing care.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
We are always in need of supplies, equipment, medications, and of course funds to pay for veterinary care and treatments. Please, see our Wish List of items needed.
We have a Pack Pal program for those wanting to make either regular donations each month or occasional one time donations toward our Pekes Needing Help (special needs dogs), Sanctuary dogs, and/or the general fund.
We are set up to take donations through PayPal for credit or debit card donations. You do not have to have a PayPal account to make a donation using this secure service.
